hydrophil services
hydrophil iC supports its clients during the entire project cycle from (i) policy and strategy development, (ii) project identification and preparation (iii) project implementation, (iv) monitoring and evaluation of projects and their underlying sector strategies. We offer a broad range of (v) applied research and thematic studies as well as (vi) capacity building and training for water related activities in all sectors.
The combination of our consultancy and research experience is one of hydrophil iC's core strength and provides innovative and effective solutions for our clients. The iC group of companies disposes of ISO 9001 - quality management systems for all activities within the group.
We provide services in the following areas:
policy and strategy development
We assist policy makers in the review, (re)formulation and implementation of water sector policies and strategies (national, international). We support decision makers in strategic planning initiatives, e.g. with the aim of targeting available resources for short-, mid- and long-term investment planning (sector and sub-sector allocations).
identification and preparation
We support our clients in the development of new sector programmes and projects – at sub-national, national and regional scale. We have specialist expertise in the preparation and management of procurement processes.
project implementation
hydrophil iC supports the investor (public and private) with the implementation of water supply and sanitation infrastructure. We design the technical infrastructure, are responsible for project management, ensure qualitative site supervision and backstop local project implementation units - in the urban and rural context. This includes integrated services as well as special services such as leakage analyses or water resources analysis. We assist our clients in the procurement of goods and services.
monitoring and evaluation
We assist with monitoring and evaluation of programmes and projects. Adequate monitoring systems that help in early detection of inefficiencies or un-desirable effects allow optimising programme implementation through change management. While inputs and outputs are relatively easy to monitor it may be challenging to develop the methodology for measuring results and impacts. We provide support in defining indicators, establishing baselines, implementing specific surveys, organising routine data collection and designing appropriate monitoring systems that are highly operational.
We have strong technical expertise in the establishment of management information and decision support systems.
hydrophil iC is experienced in the implementation of reviews and evaluations which we tailor to the specific requirement of the situation and the needs of the client.
research and thematic studies
hydrophil iC is dedicated to bridge the gap between researchers and practitioners, thus making innovative approaches and technologies available for practical application. We analyse and adapt research results dependent on local environmental, socio-economic or regulatory conditions. We are committed to participative research approaches including action research and have considerable experience working and facilitating communication in research communities.
capacity building and training
We offer advice to governmental institutions, private and non-governmental organizations for institutional development, organisational strengthening and the development of appropriate institutional and regulatory frameworks. To support these change processes and developments, we offer tailor-made training courses to enhance our clients' organisational capacities to plan and implement strategies, programmes and projects. Our staff has experience in graduate level lecturing and post-graduate training, too.
